Hybrid windfarm
The idea for a hybrid windfarm started with the scandal of the Brent spar.
This floating storage “buoy" that was dismantled at high cost, could have/should have been converted for green energy.
There are many small gas fields in the North sea. Exploiting these fields is too expensive.
These fields could be used as backup for huge floating windmill platforms: The platform contains multi wings and gas driven generators.
The generators are used only on wind-still days, to guaranty a constant electrical power supply.
Advantage of this hybrid concept: The gas is used as back up and the the gas is brought to shore by “cheap” electrical wires.
When a filed is empty the windfarm can be moved to the next well. The geological and carbon footprint of the windfarm is reduced to a minimum.
